Country Human Resources Lead

Our client , Owens Corning, is a growing European leader in building & construction materials, based in diverse European countries, growing around 3 strategic pillars: manufacturing excellence, commercial excellence and product leadership. For one of the fastest growing Business Unit with highest performing solutions, they’re currently looking for a Country Human Resources Lead.

The Country HR Lead is a new key role accountable for offering the best partnership & services to business leaders & employees in Belgium, optimising expertise to the HR network in-country & by close collaboration with other int’nal HR stakeholders.

As HR Generalist, s/he’s the leader of the Belgian Shared Services, influencing the sales division & EU Head Offices, with following responsibilities:


  • Coordinate / Align on HR Matters with HRBPs having employees in-country, with Plant HR Leaders and with Site Leaders;
  • Provide people related support & consultation to the businesses, manage employee / manager led requests about programs, policies, and other HR related items (C&B, performance, career goals, attrition & retention…);
  • In close collaboration with HRBPs owing the employee scope in-country:
    • Lead all country HR related areas (talent assessment, OD, change management, risk analysis & mitigation, staffing needs, succession);
    • Coach & influence leaders (performance management, creating the right environment & taking the best decisions);
    • Talent: recruitment up to managerial level, Employer branding + training coordination;
  • Foster positive employee relations & engagements – own Case Management (conduct, performance, …);
  • Culture – employee engagement, Employee & Industrial Relations
    • Build employee engagement by leveraging global frameworks and resources;
    • Partner with & coach leaders to build an inclusive & high performing team environment;
  • On occasion or when required, contribute & involved in local industrial relations (excl plants)
  • Organizational performance: project management & execution of restructuring and/or broader change programs;
  • HR Data Insights: analyse & present data to recommend solutions that support culture & defined HR strategy – analyse root causes for working environment issues, manage interventions & solutions in collaboration & cooperation with key stakeholders;
  • Utilise corporate & industry best practices associated with Talent Management Follow-up on country labor legislation and translate into policies / regulations;
  • Lead / participate in site related projects (driven by HSE, Workplace, Covid related, …);
  • Develop strong & effective team relationships with Plant HR and HR Leader Europe, Centers of Excellence, HR Shared Services, Finance, Talent Acquisition, C&B …


  • Strong business acumen with 5- 8 years of relevant successful HR experience in a similar environment
  • Have self-initiative, creativity, perseverance, and flexibility combined with strong execution skills
  • Ability to analyze (people) data and translate the outcome to valuable and actionable insights which you share and discuss with your business;
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills with strong delivery focus;
  • Ability to lead and influence without direct authority;
  • Resilience and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment juggling multiple priorities;
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy;
  • Confidentiality, integrity and the ability to handle sensitive information/situations in a professional manner;
  • Attracting, developing and retaining outstanding talent which represents the available talent pool; developing, growing and retaining talent;
  • Has understanding and experience in incentive process, design and implementation;
  • Able to operate in a matrix structure and across geographic boundaries and cultures;
  • Master’s degree in business, human resources or a related field preferred.
  • Fluent in Dutch, French and English.
