Product Manager – Chemical Distribution

Our client is active in chemical and agro chemicals distribution, combining solutions and services for agriculture and industries mainly in Africa.Our line of products and services are Fertilizers and Crop protection products for agriculture as well as Chemical products and services for the industries.

We are now recruiting a Product Manager Industrial Chemicals.

Key requirements:

Experience in chemical distribution – Commodities – specialties

Relationship with Principals – product portfolio – segmentation

Strategy of chemicals to distribute – link with supply chain – purchasing

Discussion – allocation – suppliers – driven on specialty chemicals

Make up business plans – market research – segmentation – super commercial – be able to implement a strategy – drive the business with products

Has to understand what is the added value of a product.

UW FUNCTIE

  • Existing products:
    • Periodic analysis of product life cycle of existing product lines
    • Evolve strategy to develop new apps. from existing products
    • Identify alternative sources/partnerships for the supply of existing products
  • New products:
    • Assess and identify future trends and coordinate with supplier’s R&D to formulate new projects for growth, NPD  and launch plan
    • Identify sources/ partnerships for the supply of new products
    • Build business plans based on market data with local sales teams
    • Develop and analyze new and existing market segments
  • Competitor tracking:
    • Assessing the competitors’ products / activities and evolving strategy for proactive actions
    • Train and communicate with local teams to acquire date from the market
  • Customers:
    • Organize customer trainings and workshops
    • Design custom/tailormade formulation assistance
    • Determines customers’ needs and desires by specifying the research needed to obtain market information.
  • Suppliers:
    • Design custom/tailormade formulation assistance
    • Close distribution agreement with new and existing suppliers
    • Negotiate allocations & pricing with principals

UW PROFIEL

  • >5 years experience in product management
  • Prior experience in managing product lifecycle management in industrial chemicals/feed/food ingredients…
  • Experience as technical service executive is a plus
  • B.Tech/ BE in chemical engineering preferably with MBA
  • Leadership skills to drive new product development
  • Financial planning and strategic analysis for new project development
  • Strategic long-term mindset to
    • Understand key trends, track competition & identify gaps
    • Prioritize opportunities & assess business case
  • Communication & relationship management skills to lead relationships with strategic and technology partners
  • Organization / Team skills to create the culture, scale the organization & institutionalize processes
  • Interpersonal Effectiveness establishing a climate of openness and trust and empowering people at lower levels
  • Ability to train, accompany and lead teams to market the existing and new products
  • Fluency in French and English is a must
